Male infertility refers to cases where pregnancy cannot be achieved despite regular, unprotected intercourse, where the problem is due to male-related causes. Today, the male factor plays a role, alone or together with a female factor, in a significant proportion of infertility cases.
Male infertility can result from problems related to sperm production, sperm count, motility or structure, as well as from hormonal, genetic or anatomical causes. For this reason, a comprehensive and systematic evaluation process is very important.
Evaluating male infertility begins with a detailed patient history and physical examination. Semen analysis (sperm test), hormonal work-up and, when necessary, imaging are also used to investigate the cause of infertility.
Some patients may need further tests and genetic evaluation. The goal of this process is to correctly identify the factors causing infertility.
Treatment of male infertility is planned according to the underlying cause. Hormonal imbalances, structural problems such as varicocele, or infections may require different treatment approaches. In some cases medical treatment is enough, while in others patients may be referred for surgical methods or assisted reproduction techniques.
The main goal of the treatment process is to improve sperm quality, improve reproductive potential and increase couples' chances of pregnancy.
Patients are followed with regular check-ups after treatment. Sperm parameters, hormonal balance and general health are evaluated to monitor the effectiveness of the treatment process. Informational counseling support is provided to couples when necessary.
